Superb set -essential release for Mingus devotees .This is a rare example where the vocal embellishments add to the performances . This is frequently not the case .
Indispensable release for Mingus devotees. Nick Bradey

Thanks to Laurie Pepper for a great Christmas present! Not surprisingly, the highlight is Art's ballad feature, (Somewhere) Over The Rainbow, but everybody plays well throughout. Zoot really shines on the surprisingly uptempo Girl From Ipanema. He should have been recorded live more often. He always brought a little extra when spurred on by another top saxophonist, and who better to spur him on than Art Pepper? Great recording quality too. waylonfeedback

This is a rare treat. The London Jazz Scene of the 60s, 70s was extraordinary. An era of great charts, superb players and increasing innovation. This exudes a confidence and a scene reaching for its own unique voice. John Fenton
